Walnut Hill Lane, from Luna Road to Malibu Drive – Dallas, Texas
As the prime consultant, DAL-TECH provided Dallas County with investigations, developed concepts, prepared cost estimates, analysis and design of Walnut Hill Lane from a rural two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided roadway, with an ultimate expansion to a six-lane divided roadway. The total project length was approximately 6,000 feet, from Luna Road to Malibu Drive that also included a grade separation structure over the Burlington Northern Railroad. Drainage structures were designed to accommodate a 100-year storm under fully developed conditions. Utility design included a 12-inch water line and a 24-inch water line. To further illustrate the firm’s diversity, DAL-TECH is also providing construction inspection services.
By all accounts considered a challenging endeavor, the project extends through a former landfill with methane gas present. This necessitated DAL-TECH’s management of extensive testing and a complex evaluation of alternate designs. DAL-TECH’s strong management abilities were crucial to a project that involved multiple governmental agencies.
DAL-TECH also provided close coordination with the City of Dallas Parks Department, as Walnut Hill Lane also serves as direct access to the Elm Fork Athletic Complex.
